Final 2009 Special Rumours

Various British tabloids have recently reported that David Tennant’s Doctor will be joined by former companions Donna Noble, Martha Jones and Rose Tyler when he encounters the Master in the final specials later this year. The reports claim that John Simm who appeared as the Master previously will reprise the role for David Tennant’s final episode before Matthew Smith becomes the Eleventh Doctor in 2010.

Catherine Tate, Freema Agyeman and Billie Piper previously departed from Doctor Who in the series four episode Journey’s End written by Russell T Davies. The Master originally appeared in the Third Doctor story Terror of the Autons written by the late Robert Holmes and was portrayed by the late Roger Delgado.

An apparent BBC Wales insider had this to say regarding Tennant’s final special;

“This will be the most exciting episode Doctor Who have ever done. We really wanted to get all the companions back on board as a fitting send-off to David and of all the enemies for him to face in his final episode it makes sense for The Master to be the main one. Getting Billie Piper to agree is a real coup, but fortunately she loved working on the show so much that it didn’t take much convincing.”

Doctor Who Hideout would like to remind readers that the BBC have not confirmed the presence of Catherine Tate, Freema Agyeman, Billie Piper and John Simm but Doctor Who Hideout will keep you updated.
