David’s Opinion on Matt Smith

What’s On TV have recently published a quote from David Tennant regarding a conversation with Matt Smith. David reveals that even though he hasn’t advised his predecessor about the role but feel Matt has the right idea.

David Tennant began portraying the Doctor in 2005 and will continue before departing in the last 2009 special. Matt Smith was announced last month as the replacement to David Tennant’s Doctor after months of speculating on who will portray the eleventh Doctor.

David Tennant had this to say regarding the conversation:

"We chatted on the phone not long ago and we did exchange a few opinions on what’s about to unfold for him, but advice is a very dangerous thing. Matt’s got an extraordinary journey coming up in all sorts of ways and I’m sure he’ll find his own way through it,".

"I could tell Matt was very up for it, though, and excited in all the right ways. He says he’s going to take it very seriously and he seems to have the right idea about playing The Doctor, so far as I can tell."

David Tennant returns as the Doctor this Easter in Planet of the Dead.
