Nominations for the Broadcasting Press Guild TV Awards

The nominations for the Broadcasting Press Guild TV Awards, based on programmes broadcast during 2009, have recently been revealed with both Doctor Who and Torchwood receiving nominations. David Tennant has been nominated in the Best Actor category for his role as the Tenth Doctor, plus for his role in BBC Two’s Hamlet, with Eve Myles having been nominated in the Best Actress category for her role as Gwen Cooper.

Ex-executive producer Russell T Davies has been nominated in the Best Writer category for his episodes of both Doctor Who and Torchwood: Children of Earth. Lindsay Duncan, who portrayed Adelaide Brooke in The Waters of Mars, has also been nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in BBC Two’s Margaret and BBC Four’s Margot.

Toby Whithouse, who wrote School Reunion and a story for the upcoming Doctor Who series, has also received a nomination for his work on BBC Three’s Being Human. Voting is only available to members, the initial voting taking place from the Twenty Fifth to the Fourth, with the final round of voting beginning this Thursday and finish the following Thursday.
