Torchwood to Return with a Thirteen Episode Series

Doctor Who and Torchwood actor John Barrowman confirmed earlier today, on the Steve Right show on BBC Radio 2, that when Torchwood returns it will contain thirteen episodes unlike Torchwood’s third series. John Barrowman also confirmed that he wont be appearing as Captain Jack in Doctor Who’s fifth series alongside Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor after appearing alongside both the Ninth Doctor and Tenth Doctor.

The Torchwood Institute first appeared in the Tenth Doctor story Tooth and Claw, founded by Queen Victoria, then later went on to make an appearance in Army of Ghosts before Torchwood made its debut on BBC Three later that year. Torchwood’s first three series all featured John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper.

Despite John Barrowman stating that Torchwood would return with a thirteen part series, and Russell T Davies stating earlier this year that he had ideas how to start the fourth series of Torchwood, nothing has been officially confirmed yet by the BBC. Blogtor Who has uploaded the extract from todays edition of the Steve Right show on BBC Radio 2 with John Barrowman here.
