Upcoming Doctor Who DVD Release Rumours

Various online retail sites are reporting that the first quarter of 2010 will see the release of various Doctor Who stories on DVD featuring the Third Doctor, the Fourth Doctor plus the Seventh Doctor. 2lEntertain haven’t given any official confirmation that the rumoured titles, that first appeared on Amazon and Play.com within the past few days, will be definitely released on DVD around the United Kingdom and Ireland next year.

The Seventh Doctor’s debut story Time and the Rani, written by Pip and Jane Baker, is rumoured for release on DVD around the United Kingdom and Ireland by 2lEntertain on the Third of March. Time and the Rani features the recently regenerated Seventh Doctor encounter fellow Time Lord nemesis The Rani on the planet Lakertya.

The Fourth Doctor story The Masque of Mandragora, written by Robert Holmes, is also rumoured for release on DVD around the United Kingdom and Ireland by 2lEntertain on the Eighth of February. The Masque of Mandragora features the Fourth Doctor with companion Sarah Jane Smith encounter the ancient Mandragora Helix in medieval England.

Finally, a Myths and Legends DVD box set, reported by Doctor Who Hideout in February, is also rumoured for release on DVD by 2lEntertain at the beginning of next February. Rumoured titles for the Myths and Legends DVD box set include the Third Doctor story The Time Monster plus the Fourth Doctor stories Underworld and The Horns of Nimon.

2lEntertain haven’t confirmed whether or not if any of the Doctor Who stories will be released within the next twelve months but Doctor Who Hideout will keep you updated. The next Doctor Who DVD release will be The Curse of Peladon (1972) with The Monster of Peladon (1974), under the promotional title Peladon Tales, out on the Fourth of January.
