The War Games DVD Released

Today has seen the official DVD release of the Second Doctor story The War Games from regular Doctor Who DVD manufacturers 2lentertain around the United Kingdom and Ireland. English actor Patrick Troughton appears as the Second Doctor alongside companions Jamie, portrayed by Frazier Hines, and Zoe Heriot, portrayed by Wendy Padbury, in The War Games written by Terrance Dicks and Malcom Hulke.

The War Games was the final episode of Doctor Who to feature Patrick Troughton, Frazier Hines with Wendy Padbury and the final episode to be produced in black and white. Despite this being the final episode for Patrick Troughton during his original run, 1966 to 1969, he would return for The Three Doctors, The Five Doctors and The Two Doctors.

Extras for The War Games include: Commentary, Programme Subtitles, Subtitle Production Notes, War Zone, Now and Then, The Doctor's Composer, Sylvia James, Talking About Regeneration, Time Zones, Stripped for Action, On Target, Devious and Photo Gallery. The War Games commentary features contributions from actors Frazer Hines, Wendy Padbury, Philip Madoc, Jane Sherwin and Graham Weston, co-writer Terrance Dicks and script editor Derrick Sherwin.

The War Games is currently available on DVD for the price of £24.99 around the United Kingdom and Ireland. The Seventh Doctor story Remembrance of the Daleks will be re-released by 2lentertain on the Twentieth of July around the United Kingdom and Ireland.
