The Daleks Possible Return?

Various online tabloids are reporting that the Doctor’s greatest enemy, the Daleks, will be returning for Doctor Who’s fifth series to encounter the Eleventh Doctor, portrayed by Matt Smith, in his first story. The Daleks previously appeared, alongside Davros, in the two part finale to the fourth series of Doctor Who, The Stolen Earth and Journey’s End, battling the Tenth Doctor plus his army of companions.

The Daleks first appeared in Doctor Who during the 1963 story The Daleks, immediately becoming popular with the viewing public, cementing Doctor Who‘s popularity. Since the Daleks first made an appearance in 1963 they have returned many times to menace the Doctor in various incarnations and ultimately play a part in the destruction of the Time Lords in the Time War.

An apparent Insider from the BBC was quoted as saying:

“They know fans will take a while to get used to Matt as the Doctor, so it makes sense to have him fight his most famous enemies. They always bring good ratings.”

The Tardis interior will also reportedly be changing similar to how it looked from 1963 to 1989 when the first Seven Doctors had been at the helm of the Tardis. Filming for the Eleventh Doctor’s first series will begin next month in Cardiff with Matt Smith and Scottish actress Karen Gillan as the currently unknown companion.
