Series Five Production Crew Update

BBC Wales have officially revealed three new members of the Doctor Who production team who will join Steven Moffat, Matthew Smith and Piers Wenger for Series Five. Doctor Who regular Tracie Simpson is joined by Torchwood regular Peter Bennett as producers while Beth Willis joins Steven Moffat and Piers Wenger as an executive producer for Series Five.

Tracie Simpson has previously worked on Doctor Who as location manager for series one to four and made a cameo during The Last of the Time Lords. Peter Bennett is the producer of the upcoming Torchwood: Children of Earth which is rumoured to be broadcast on BBC One in June or July.

Beth Willis most recent work for the BBC has been the BBC One drama Ashes to Ashes which is a spin-off from Life on Mars which featured John Simm. Pre-production begins next month with shooting due to get underway later in the summer in and around the Cardiff.

Upcoming Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat said:

"Beth and Tracie and Pete aren't the A Team, they're the people the A Team call. Tracie and Pete are the backstage stars of Doctor Who and having them on board as producers isn't just the best possible news for Matt Smith's first series, it's a massive relief.

"And Beth Willis, fresh from the brilliant Ashes To Ashes, is joining Piers and I as an executive so finally there'll be someone to wear the trousers."

Series Five is expected for transmission in Spring 2010 with British actor Matthew Smith replacing David Tennant as the Doctor.
