Gillian Anderson as The Rani in Series Five?

American actress Gillian Anderson, famous for Diana Scully in the American Science-Fiction programme X-Files, will reportedly be appearing during Series Five of Doctor Who. Gillian Anderson is reportedly portraying the renegade Time Lady The Rani who previously appeared during The Mark of the Rani, The Time and the Rani plus the Doctor Who crossover with Eastenders, Dimensions in Time, portrayed by Kate O’Mara.

The American Science-Fiction actress will reportedly appear as The Rani in a one-off episode next year and encounter Matthew Smith as the Eleventh Doctor despite the fact that The Rani has previously encountered the Sixth and Seventh Doctors. The Rani has been rumoured to return various times since Doctor Who was revived in 2005 with a massive amount of rumours shortly after the end of The Last of The Time Lords.
