Doctor Who Fails to Receive BAFTA

The annual British Academy Television Awards took place on Sunday night at the Royal Festival Hall in London with Doctor unfortunately failing to receive the award for Best Drama Series. Doctor Who was nominated against Spooks, Shameless and Wallander, the winner of the Best Drama Series category, for the first time since the BAFTA’s that took place in 2006 in which Doctor Who was nominated for series one.

However Jane Tranter, one of the many people behind the revival of Doctor Who, was award an exclusive Special award for her career working on the BBC. Doctor Who actor David Tennant provided the Special Award to Jane Tranter during the live BAFTA Ceremony. Both Michelle Ryan and Lindsay Duncan from the 2009 Doctor Who specials also presented awards for Best International Drama and Best Actor.

Doctor Who Hideout would like to congratulate every winner of a BAFTA award - especially Jane Tranter for her magnificent work on the BBC in the latest decade.
